A Global Initiative to Save the Lives of Pregnant Women & their Newborns 
Using Mobile Technologies

The world faces unacceptably high maternal and child mortality with 300,000 women and 6 million children under the age of five dying every year from preventable or treatable causes.

Zero Mothers Die is a global partnership initiative to save the lives of pregnant women, new mothers and their babies. Our aim is to reduce maternal mortality by putting mobile technologies in the hands of these women to increase their access to healthcare and information to have a healthy pregnancy and childbirth.

OBJECTIVES

 

Reducing Maternal & Child Mortality


Through increased access by pregnant women to appropriate healthcare information, via mobile voice and text messages in local languages and dialects.


Accelerating Mobile Phone Ownership & Use



To increase access to healthcare, empower women with information, and reduce the mobile phone gender gap. This includes facilitating connections with healthcare workers through allocations of free airtime restricted to calling assigned local healthcare facilities and workers.

Education & Capacity-Building of Community Health Workers


Using tablets and smartphones preloaded with tools to support their work as well as up-to-date, tailored training materials in local dialects to improve maternal and child health in their communities.
